She then went on to earn a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in Biostatistics. Lauren is the Lower Extremity Research Coordinator in COOR, specializing in knee, foot and ankle outcomes. Her areas of interest include knee osteoarthritis, meniscus outcomes, ACL and ligamentous outcomes and patient expectations. In 2009, when Dr. Clanton joined The Steadman Clinic, Lauren began developing the foot and ankle research program in COOR, and has focused on outcomes following various ankle pathologies and validation of outcome measures in the foot and ankle. She has presented multiple studies, both nationally and internationally, at various orthopaedic meetings including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy (ESSKA), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the World Congress of Osteoarthritis, the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) annual meeting and specialty day meeting. Lauren has co-authored 30 peer-reviewed studies, including “Outcomes and Survivorship at 10 Years following Arthroscopic Treatment Package for Osteoarthritis of the Knee” which was awarded the Richard O’Connor Research Award at the AANA annual meeting in 2012. Lauren has also co-authored several papers that were highlighted feature articles in Orthopedics and the American Journal of Orthopedics.
Lauren truly enjoys being part of the research team at the institute, with the common goal of improving patient outcomes. “Working with a skilled and dedicated research team has taught me that a career centered on the health and wellbeing of others, through evidence-based medicine, is where I find inspiration and a place where I can contribute. I have seen the positive impact of passionate physicians and dedicated research teams who strive to achieve excellence in providing quality health care options through sound practices and high quality research. I have participated in numerous studies regarding patient outcomes and expectations and by conducting these studies and sharing this useful information with others, I find enjoyment and fulfillment.”
