Greta Campanale

Program Director, SPRI Future Innovators

Greta grew up on a New England boarding school campus, earned her undergraduate degree at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, moved to Colorado with her husband Mike in 2000, and worked for over a decade as the fellowship and education coordinator at what was then called the Steadman Hawkins Sports Medicine Foundation and later became Steadman Philippon Research Institute.

Greta's prep school alma mater's motto, "Not to be served but to serve," and her Jesuit university's tradition of lifelong learning, social justice and service to others deeply resonate with her, forming her approach to work, family and life. Greta was an early member of the Roundup River Ranch development team when the camp for children with life-altering diagnoses launched its first programs in Gypsum, CO. She also served for four years as administrative director of the VSON Research and Education Foundation in Vail, before spending a number of years assisting with her husband's business, raising three kids, serving on the board at Mountain Valley Horse Rescue, and Nordic sports guiding in winters at Beaver Creek.

Greta is happy to be back in SPRI Education as program director for SPRI Future Innovators, focusing on STEM education programs for regional youth to inspire the younger generation of scientists, researchers and healthcare professionals. Not only is it fun to connect local students with immersive learning in SPRI research labs, but it's especially rewarding to witness the scientists, researchers and clinicians dedicate countless hours to mentoring young students and modeling pathways to STEM fields and careers.
