Outcomes Research

Grant grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado and attended Colorado State University for an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a Master’s in Statistics. During college and graduate school, Grant coached high school baseball at his alma mater, Rocky Mountain High School. While coaching with the Rocky Lobos, they won four consecutive state championships.

 

After graduate school, Grant couldn’t believe his luck in finding a job as the biostatistician for the Steadman Philippon Research Institute – marrying his love for sports, science and discovering impactful insights in data…all located at the base of a ski mountain! During his 5 years as SPRI’s chief biostatistician, Grant worked on a wide array of clinical outcomes, biomechanical engineering, quantitative imaging and regenerative medicine research projects.

 

Since the beginning of 2017, Grant has taken on a new role as Director of the Center for Outcomes Based Orthopedic Research (COOR) at SPRI. In this role, Grant will continue to pursue his data analytic interests, but will now additionally get to focus on team building and strategic planning. Grant is incredibly excited to continue collaboration with the Steadman Clinic physicians and SPRI researchers in his new capacity. One of his primary goals for COOR is to find innovative new ways to improve and personalize patient care by leveraging SPRI’s one-of- a-kind database through predictive modeling.

 

In his spare time in Vail, Grant skis, hikes, road and mountain bikes, and plays in Vail recreational sports leagues. He loves to spend time with his wife Emily who was a ballerina and has managed group fitness programs of all kinds in Fort Collins and Vail. Emily provides a much needed counterbalance to Grant’s analytical (read nerdy) side.
