Dr. Sudheer Ravuri, Ph.D is Deputy Director at the Center for Regenerative Sports Medicine (CRSM). Prior to joining CRSM/SPRI, Dr. Ravuri was Research Associate at the University of Pittsburgh for the past 9-years. Currently, Dr. Ravuri works closely with Dr. Johnny Huard and leads and manages multi-disciplinary research projects at CRSM, involving basic science studies and clinical translation. Dr. Ravuri’s main areas of research focus are Adipose Derived Stem Cell biology and application, Characterization and translation of Platelet Rich Plasma and Bone Marrow Aspirate, with implications for Orthopaedic applications and better aging.
Sudheer is from India, studied 2-year master degree program in virology offered by the only institution (Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi) in the country, during 1997 – 2000. Later, he obtained Ph.D in 2006 from India’s top and prestigious medical institute, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India. Right after graduation, Sudheer joined the University of Pittsburgh for postdoctoral fellowship and later promoted to Research Associate. Sudheer worked with world renowned scientists in the fields of gene therapy and stem cell biology and tissue engineering, in addition to collaborative research work with Nobel laureate, Dr. Hargobind Khorana. Dr. Ravuri was awarded Plastic Surgery foundation grants and he served as PI, Co-I, Mentor during his postdoctoral research at the Univeristy of Pittsburgh. Currently, Dr. Ravuri is serving as investigator in multiple NIH, DoD, Private and Philanthropy funded research projects. Dr. Ravuri is a lead inventor in an IP filed at the University of Pittsburgh and his Ph.D thesis work was awarded an Indian patent. Currently, Sudheer is actively involved in conducting bench to bedside clinical translational research and also listed as inventor in several IP pplications filed so far. Sudheer feels that it is an honor for him to work at Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI), US Olympic and Paralympic National Medical Center (USOPC).
Sudheer and his family moved to the valley at the end of 2016, and they would really like to enjoy the scenery of the valley, describing it as a winter wonderland. Sudheer and family love to attend the church and being involved in the Lord’s ministry.
