Jon Miles, MS

Research Engineer

Jon was welcomed aboard the SPRI BME team in March 2019 as a Research Engineer in the Robotics Lab. He possesses a strong background in biomechanics, which began with a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida and culminated with a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida. Jon accrued experience developing myoelectric prostheses and working with powered exoskeletons from his graduate research in the Human Neuromechanics Lab. These experiences prepared him well for biomechanics research. He enjoys thinking critically to apply his own experiences to design quality biomechanics experiments at SPRI. Jon aspires to help improve the quality of life of others by making lasting contributions to the biomedical field, and he believes that biomechanics is where he can make the biggest impact.

Migrating 2000 miles from beautiful, sun-shiny Tampa, FL, this native “flat-lander” metamorphosized into the mountain-man he is today. He enjoys long walks on the beach as well as long hikes through the clouds. He is an avid Tampa Bay Lightning fan and is proud to be a Florida Gator. One of Jon’s greatest assets is his humor; he provides a much-needed comic relief to the team.
