Kaitie Whitney joined SPRI in January 2016. Her current projects investigate the effects of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) in Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery applications. Her primary focus is to understand how certain biologic factors within PRP and BMAC have the potential to regenerate soft tissue and cartilage. Additionally, she collects patient outcomes after biologic treatment to optimize biologic applications and develop effective methodologies.

In 2013, Kaitie completed her undergrad at Kentucky Wesleyan College with a degree in pre-medical studies. She was a collegiate division II soccer player and managed to work as a nurse’s assistant for almost four years and a physical therapy technician for 2 years in college. She then moved to Denver, Colorado and completed an orthopaedic research internship at the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus. She plans on applying to a medical scientist training program (MD/PhD) next year.

In her free time, Kaitie spends time with her dog Tucker and enjoys skiing, snowboarding, hiking, wake-boarding, biking, and playing soccer.
